The curl cylinders are positioned for maximal compaction. Additionally, being inside the enclosed portion of the hopper they are protected from the elements including salt spray and road debris. By utilizing our unique cylinder positioning we are able to achieve quick cycle times with maximal compaction ratios.

What size garbage truck do I need?

Size depends on your route density, container sizes, and whether you need a CDL. An 8-yard rear load on an Isuzu NRR is a strong under-CDL option for residential startups, property management, and small municipalities — no CDL required at 19,500 GVW. A 25-yard packer on a Western Star 47X is right for high-volume residential or commercial routes. We'll help you size the truck to your actual route rather than just selling you the biggest or cheapest option.

Can I get a garbage truck without a CDL?

Yes. An 8-yard Econovo rear load body on an Isuzu NRR at 19,500 GVW is an under-CDL configuration — no commercial driver's license required. This is a popular choice for startup refuse operations, private residential haulers, and property management companies. Larger packer bodies (13-yard and up) generally require moving into CDL-weight chassis

What is an automated cart tipper?

An automated cart tipper is a device mounted to the rear of the garbage truck that automatically grabs, lifts, and dumps standard residential or commercial carts (typically 32, 64, and 96 gallon) into the hopper without the driver or helper having to manually handle the cart. We install Perkins automated cart tippers — they improve route efficiency, reduce driver fatigue, and lower the risk of injury on long residential routes.

Do you service garbage trucks after the sale?

Yes. Smith Truck Body services the equipment we sell and install. We offer in-shop repair at $185/hr for medium and heavy duty vehicles, mobile repair at $200/hr port-to-port, and DOT inspections at $185 flat rate. We also offer pre-purchase inspections on used refuse equipment. We don't disappear after delivery.
