DOT Inspection : We frequently perform DOT inspections. These types of inspections are billed a flat fee of $185 if brought to our shop. If we are required to go on site, it will be quoted on a case by case basis. If an inspection is to be performed off site, there will be additional fees including mileage that can be charged at Smith Truck Body’s discretion.  

 Upfit : This rate applies to all in-house equipment installations, refurbishments and custom upfits, including hooklifts, roll-offs, dump bodies, service bodies, and flatbeds. Projects using customer-supplied parts may be subject to a different labor rate. Please see our Customer-Supplied Parts Policy for details. 

 Normal Maintenance / Repairs : Unless otherwise noted, most work performed by Smith Truck Body falls under this category. Preventive Maintenance type items and repair work will be billed at $185 per hour. In order to provide a proper repair estimate, we will need to see the vehicle and diagnose the problem(s). We do not perform repairs based on the diagnosis of any other party, and we can't provide specific work estimates for vehicles we have not seen.

Normal Repairs / Upgrades (CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PARTS) : As a general rule, Smith Truck Body does NOT install CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PARTS. Should we choose to make an exception, a labor rate of $250/hr will be charged for any repairs or installations using CUSTOMER SUPPLIED PARTS. Smith Truck Body’s warranty ONLY covers "Workmanship" when installing outside parts. The Smith truck Body warranty does NOT apply on ANY parts that were not purchased from Smith Truck Body. Pre-Purchase / Safety Inspection : We frequently perform pre-purchase vehicle inspections as well as general safety inspections for customers who are being proactive on maintenance. These types of inspections are billed a flat fee of $275 if brought to our shop. If we are required to go on site, it will be quoted on a case by case basis. Please be aware that we are not able to disassemble any part of a vehicle during a pre-purchase inspection.

 All equipment must be reasonably clean and safe to service. If a unit requires washing, degreasing, or excessive preparation before work can begin, a cleaning fee may apply.

Standard Cleaning Fee: $95 per unit

Units with heavy mud, grease, waste residue, garbage contamination, or other excessive buildup may require additional cleaning and may be billed at shop labor rate.

Mobile repairs are billed $200 per hour port-to-port, beginning when our technician leaves our facility and ending when they return. A two-hour minimum charge applies to all mobile service calls.

Mobile service may include preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, hydraulic repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and basic diagnostics performed at the customer’s location.

Final repair scope and time estimates can only be determined after the equipment has been inspected. Smith Truck Body does no

 Smith Truck Body offers on-site inspections for customers considering the purchase of used trucks or equipment anywhere in the United States. Inspections include a mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and operational evaluation along with a professional opinion on the unit’s condition. These are quoted case-by-case based on location, travel time, and scope of work. A deposit is required for long-distance inspections. This is limited to visual and operational evaluation.
